:: Evolution not resolution
I’m not a fan of New Year resolutions, by their very nature they seemed doomed to failure and usually end up as distant memories before January is out. I guess it’s the renegade in me, but when I’m told to do something, I’m less and less likely to be motivated to actually do it.
So in-keeping with the very nature of the neverendinglist there will be no resolution for 2012, instead it’s all about evolution!
Evolution – any process of formation or growth; development.
I’ve never bought an Apple product in my life, but upon his death I was intrigued by a number of quotes from Steve Jobs which can only inspire anyone to make the most of our time here. This one hit a chord “No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent….”
Nothing reinforced this more to me than when I stumbled across the bench above a couple of years back. My car had just died on the first day of our week long camping holiday, it hadn’t stopped raining for 24 hours (and I mean raining) and I was feeling on a downer as the gloom hadn’t lifted. That was until I read the inscription on the bench dedicated to a 10 year old boy who had passed away suddenly, it simply read “If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane. I’d walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.” Puts things in perspective pretty quickly!
Wake up tomorrow and make the most of life and keep doing it every day. Keep evolving and enjoy the journey. Happy New Year!
